Due to corona, we had to postpone our DZIF Annual Meeting last year and now are looking forward to see you all again in November 2021 in Stuttgart. We cordially invite you to join this year’s Annual Meeting!
Even though the world has significantly changed due to the pandemic, we still have decided to stick to our scientific programme we created last year. Especially in corona times, we must not forget other infectious diseases: So the structure of this year’s scientific sessions will be provided by our four grand challenges of infection research. Thereby, we hope to highlight existing parallels and stimulate further synergy and interactions. In successive poster sessions, each of these grand challenge areas will present itself to the DZIF community, requesting feedback and exchange.
In recent years, the challenges faced by researchers in the field of infectious diseases have significantly increased. One example of this is the rise in the global average temperature, which favors the spread of pathogens to the north, thus bringing more and more people into contact with tropical infections.
Further challenges are the worldwide increase in resistant pathogens, the spread of infections due to migration and travel activities, and the reduced interest of the pharma industry in antibiotic development. These factors have a direct influence on global health and must be taken into account in further planning and development of new research within the DZIF and beyond.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Stuttgart from 29th to 30th November 2021.
With health wishes and best regards
